Assigned Life Enrichment Coordinators
We believe that quality care begins with strong relationships – personalized bonds of trust and friendship that are developed over time. That’s why we pair Life Enrichment Coordinators and residents as a team. By interacting with the same set of residents consistently, we are able to focus on developing communication skills unique to each resident and strive to identify small changes in health and wellness.
Finding a secure but welcoming environment is the primary concern for most families. Memory care at The KentRidge focuses not just on comfort and ease of navigation, but on security. However, we never want residents to feel monitored, so we make every effort to integrate resident safety systems in discreet ways.
Specialized activity stations, called Life Stations™, are placed strategically throughout our memory care neighborhood. These specialized areas promote engagement opportunities for residents. Designed to resemble important aspects of life, each station is intended to capture residents’ attention and promote a sense of purpose. Our Life Enrichment Coordinators also create life boxes that are specific to memory care residents!
Sometimes it feels like seniors who suffer from memory loss cannot engage in meaningful activity. At The KentRidge, we believe exactly the opposite. It may take time and effort, but one of our core goals is to get residents engaged and active in their own ways.
Memory loss can be very hard on a person’s ability to eat well. From changing tastes to loss of appetite and even medication interactions, ensuring a quality diet can be a daunting task. That’s why a robust dining strategy is one of the core features of our memory care.
Alzheimer’s and other dementias take a real toll on the day to day grooming we are accustomed to. We believe residents should have the dignity we all take for granted – looking and feeling presentable. In addition to assuring that every resident enjoys the daily care of combing, brushing, and makeup, we include a weekly visit to our salon at no additional cost.
Providing care for residents with dementia is a highly specialized skill – one that we develop with best courses in empathy, communication, and personal care.
Our drive to care for those in need Alzheimer’s and dementia means we need to be equipped with the most up-to-date knowledge and proven effective techniques. The KentRidge works regularly with Arrow Senior Living’s Memory Care Leadership to ensure we have the prerequisite tools, expertise, and heart to give attention that is second to none.
