As summer heats up, we at The Kentridge Senior Living prioritize maintaining a safe and comfortable environment for our older adult residents. Rising temperatures present unique challenges, especially in our senior living community, where residents are more vulnerable to heat-related issues. Our maintenance team follows some essential safety measures to ensure a safe, smooth-running, and pleasant summer for everyone.
We inspect air conditioning units regularly to ensure they function correctly and replace air filters to maintain air quality. Thermostats are set at comfortable temperatures, and cooling is monitored in common areas and resident rooms.
We educate residents on staying hydrated and avoiding peak heat hours by distributing flyers and holding meetings. We also promote indoor events during extreme heat to keep residents engaged and safe.
Every morning, I tour the community inside and out to identify safety issues, such as cracks in sidewalks, changes in elevation, sturdy handrails and fencing, cleanliness of trash areas to avoid attracting critters, and broken chairs and benches. I also check canopies and umbrellas. I aim for residents to enjoy as much time outside on the community grounds as possible.
A valuable summer safety tip for all Arrow communities is to regularly upkeep and inspect all outdoor furniture, handrails, sidewalks, and outdoor areas. This is crucial for keeping all residents safe during the summer months.
Promoting summer safety can help drive and support occupancy in our community by ensuring residents have access to hydration, shade, and rest while enjoying outdoor events and the sun.

By following these tips, we ensure The Kentridge Senior Living remains safe, comfortable, and enjoyable for all residents and staff throughout the summer months. Our dedication to maintaining a secure environment is essential to everyone’s well-being.
The KentRidge Senior Living serves and employs individuals of all faiths, regardless of race, color, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, age or handicap, except as limited by state and federal law.
