Building Safety Month takes place in May every year and is internationally recognized for raising awareness in keeping buildings safe.
This initiative unites industries, associations, academia, and government under a common goal to protect the public by creating a safe and resilient environment. Our primary focus as the Plant Operations Team at The KentRidge Senior Living Kent, OH is keeping our residents, visitors, and staff safe.
Many tasks are performed to safeguard our community. Safety tours are conducted with all new employees, to make them aware of all safety devices and procedures. Appropriate PPE is provided to all employees as necessary. Also, the community is continuously observed and monitored for any potential safety issues.
All safety procedures and practices are ultimately my responsibility as Plant Operations Director; however, it takes the help and cooperation of our entire staff to maintain a safe community for all residents and staff. I am probably most proud of the efficient communication that our staff has with one another in quickly addressing any potential safety issues.
I practice building safety at home too. I regularly check smoke detectors and CO detectors. I also keep updated, functioning fire extinguishers in my home.
